Jack Fiddler

Wendigo murder trials took place in Canada at the beginning of the 20
th century. Probably one of the most famous murder trials was that of
Jack Fiddler. Fiddler was a Cree Indian who claimed that he killed 14
wendigoes during his lifetime. In October 1907, both Fiddler and his
son Joseph were tried for murdering a Cree Woman, whom they claimed was
possessed by the spirit and was on the verge of transforming into a
wendigo. Both men were found guilty and were imprisoned. Fiddler died
at the age of 87.
